Body is translucent black and orange streaky glass, the head is green with sparkles and the wings are a beautiful translucent orange embellished with yellow dots don in special fusible paint. prior to fusing.
Made in my home studio. This is my own original design and all hand cut with no precut glass pieces used. Once I assembled the glass pieces, I fused the butterfly on a full fuse schedule taking approximately 7 hours. Then it takes an addition several hours to cool. After cooled, this piece was embellished with aluminum wire.
Butterfly measures approximately 2 1.4" tall, 4" wide with the plant steak measuring 5" Long, 1/2" wide.
If you live in a colder climate, please bring him in during the cold months and stick him in a house plant until the spring. All my work is fully annealed for strength, but this is still glass and can suffer from thermal shock and break if left out in extreme cold.
